Austral Fisheries is one of Australia’s largest integrated commercial fishing companies with interests in both deep sea fishing and at sea prawning.
We are proud to be recognised for our responsible fishing practices and continuous efforts in maintaining our environmentally friendly and sustainable methods.
Austral Fisheries' deep sea fishing activities involve the operation of the Southern Champion, which at 87 metres is Australia's largest fishing vessel.
It is equipped to survive the world's harshest weather conditions as experienced in the Sub Antarctic. This vessel specialises in catching both Patagonian Toothfish and Icefish.
Austral Fisheries' prawning component involves the operation of a fleet of 9 prawn trawlers in the Northern Prawn Fishery off the coast of Northern Australia catching Banana, Tiger and Endeavour Prawns.
This fishery was established in the late 1960's and is Australia’s
most valuable fishery managed by the Australian Commonwealth Government.
Patagonian Toothfish is one of the world's premium table fish. Its white
flesh, even texture and subtle flavours are highly prized. Patagonian
Toothfish can either be supplied directly from the vessel or further
processed to your specifications.
