Patagonian Toothfish is one of the world's premium table fish. Its white flesh, even texture and subtle flavours are highly prized. Patagonian Toothfish can either be supplied directly from the vessel or further processed to your specifications.


Alfonsino
Beryx splendens
Austral Fisheries, according to seasonality and fishing plans also catch the species Alfonsino or Beryx splendens. This is a deepwater fish that is known to move further from the bottom at night and often found over seamounts and underwater ridges in the South West Indian Ocean, Central Indian Ocean, and Coral Sea. Maturity is thought to occur at around 30 cm and 4 to 5 years age. Spawning grounds are unknown. Juveniles have been recorded in pelagic and epipelagic zones in the Indian and North Pacific Oceans.

Indian Ocean Trevalla

This fish type is not dissimilar to the more well known species Blue Eye Trevalla. The Indian Ocean Trevella is predominately caught in the South West Indian Ocean using demersal trawling. It is schooling species occurring on underwater seamounts and ridges. The fish can be distinguished by its dark grey upper shading to silver belly, dark grey fins and is known to feed on small fish, crustaceans and squid.

Icefish
Champsocephalus gunnari
This is a species unique to the Sub Antarctic and is trawled by Austral Fisheries in Australian waters around Heard Island.
Icefish has become the first finfish in Australia to be certified by the
international Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) as coming from a sustainable
and well managed fishery.
The flesh of Ice Fish is fine textured, white in colour and one of the worlds best kept secrets. Ice Fish have very high levels of Omega 3, polyunsaturated fatty acids and can be consumed whole. Ice Fish size is generally between 24cm and 36cm in overall length.
